| Fourballs
Featured in the Ryder cup and President’s Cup, as well as other team events, fourballs is a favoured game where two golfers compete against an opposing couple of players. Fourballs though differ from foursomes in that each golfer has their own ball to play, and it is then a question of the best score for each golf hole being recorded for the team. The scoring can be undertaken as in match play rules or stroke play, so either through the winning of individual holes, or by accumulating the lowest score for the round. Therefore one player can lose their ball, and yet if their partner scores well that pair could still win the hole. Often you will see that one player will play conservatively, perhaps aiming for par, whilst the other golfer goes for a better score with more dangerous shots being played.
