| HAZARDS IN GOLF
The major hazards that a golfer encounters in a course are bunkers and water hazards. A bunker may be some prepared area. The soil and turf of this portion will be removed purposefully and will be filled with sand. If the ball drops into a bunker, the golfer can play it from that position itself without getting penalty strokes. The player can also convey that the ball is unplayable by dropping the ball into the bunker. In that case, a one stroke penalty is incurred. The player has no right to touch the sand in the bunker with club or a hand. In the case of violation, two strokes or hole will be lost as a penalty. The water hazard can be anything like sea, river, lake, ditch, pond or a creek. Without incurring any penalty, the player can play it from that position itself. If it’s unplayable, he can play under one stroke penalty. It can be from the same place of previous hit or any far back position of player’s choice.
